My Journey...

Every experience that I have had in my life has contributed to my yearning to become an Occupational Therapist. I began volunteering at a young age at local nursing homes, special care homes, as well as fundraising events. My grandparents instilled in me the importance of sharing time and talent with others, and in my case that was through music. Knowing that I wanted to go into a health care field, it had to be something big and important, something that could change lives. I came upon OT, a field that enables, a field that is creative, a field that emphasizes the importance of meaningful activities. I wanted to be able to fill voids in the lives of others, and I have found a career that is big enough to do just that.

I am currently a second year student in the Masters of Occupational Therapy program at the prestigious Queen's University. I am from a very small village outside of New Brunswick's capital called Minto. The love I have for my community started a fire in my heart to give back to the place that I am so proud to call home. I completed my undergraduate degree at the finest New Brunswick liberal arts university the province has to offer, St. Thomas University. While studying there, I became passionate about psychology and gerontology, and I felt that they would be appropriate for the population that I always wanted to work with as an OT. The critical thinking abilities that I have acquired at this university have given me a new understanding for the world, something that I was proud to offer to Queen's University and ultimately my future career and clients.
